By submitting an entry to ‘DHL’s Everest Quest’, entrants agree to these Terms and Conditions.

These terms and conditions relate to your application to participate in an event entitled “DHL’s Everest Quest” and specifically to the trek to basecamp referred to below as the Basecamp Quest.  More details of the event are set out on the DHL Express microsite at www.dhleverestquest.com.

The Basecamp Quest commences from Kathmandu on Thursday 04 April 2019 and is expected to return to Kathmandu on Wednesday 17 April 2019. Final or adjusted dates will be communicated when the participants are confirmed. 

The Basecamp Quest is suitable for fit walkers and trekkers who are able to walk for up to 4 to 5 hours a day with a light rucksack. There will be one rest day after every two days of walking.

Participation in DHL’s Basecamp Quest is voluntary and at your own risk. DHL Express does not accept any liability for loss, damage, illness or injury during the event.

Anyone who has started his/her employment with DHL Express before 01 January 2016 can enter the selection process. It is open to all staff with permanent contracts, and you will need to still be employed by DHL Express through to 01 June 2019.

There are restrictions related to certain country locations which are explained in the FAQ.

The minimum age for participants is 25 and the maximum age is 60 years as of 01 January 2019.

Participants will need to have valid passports to enable them to travel.

The same person may not submit more than one application.

Each submission must respond to each of the selection criteria. Partial responses will not be considered for selection.

If your Ain’t No Mountain High Enough story involves other DHL employees, you must have their consent to use the story. If you state names of third parties in your story, you must also obtain their consent. You acknowledge that as part of the selection process the contents of your submission cannot be kept confidential but will be shared with the people involved in the selection process.

The personal Ain’t No Mountain High Enough story must have ended within the last 2 to 3 years and for extended stories, commenced no earlier than 5 years ago. DHL has absolute discretion to reject any story and will do so if it considers that it could infringe DHL’s policies or values or harm our reputation. Nor will submissions be eligible for consideration if they contain material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate, or which infringes the rights of any third party.

We may accept or reject your submission at our sole discretion. Nothing in these terms guarantees that you will be selected.

DHL Express does not accept any responsibility for any technical failure, malfunction, timing or other problems with online applications, system, server, provider or otherwise, which may result in a submission not being properly received within the submission period.

By submitting your application, you agree that – in the case you are selected and confirmed as a participant – DHL Express (DHL International GmbH and its affiliates) may use after the selection process the information provided by you in your submission for internal and external communication about the event, e.g. on DPDHL platforms such as myNet, paper-based publications, social media (e.g. Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn) and on www.dhleverestquest.com. Your “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” story, however, may be used by DHL Express only for DPDHL internal communication and not for external communications.

All personal details and /or information given in your application either in this form or otherwise must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading.

DHL Express reserves the right to disqualify you if you have supplied untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information, have failed to abide by the rules and/or are in breach of the terms hereof.

This document may be updated with further rules which might apply. Any newer versions will replace this document. You will be notified about any updated version.

You acknowledge and agree to abide by the rules, regulations, terms and conditions for this event as determined by DHL Express and you acknowledge that the rules may be changed at any time by DHL Express at its sole discretion. DHL Express’ decisions regarding all elements of the submission process and the event shall be final and binding.

You will not be required to account for the trek as holiday. It will count as normal paid employment.

Selection process and timing

  1. Individual submissions must be made online at www.dhleverestquest.com. The submission period opens for three weeks on Monday 08 October 2018 at 06:00 CET (Central European Time) and closes on Friday 26 October 2018 at 23:59 CET.

  2. Any submissions received in any format before the opening date or after the closing date will be rejected.

Round One

  1. Each Country Selection team will decide on a maximum of 1 nominee and submit to their region.

  2. Each nominated Global Hub Selection team will decide on a maximum of 1 nominee and submit to their region.

  3. Each Region Selection team will consider applicants that have a regional or global role and decide on a maximum of 1 nominee.

 
Round Two

  1. Each region will consider the single nominees relative to their region from each:

    1. Country

    2. Global Hub

    3. Region /Global

And submit a Regional Shortlist of 6 to the Global Selection team.

Round Three

  1. The Global Selection team will consider the Shortlists from 6 regions and make a final decision of 2 participants per region.

  2. A third participant from each region will also be listed as third-in-line (reserve) to replace one of the confirmed participants from his or her region if a confirmed participant has to withdraw.

  3. A further 2 participants may be added at the discretion of the Global Selection team for a maximum 14 participants

  4. The selected participants will be announced in early December 2018.

    1. The costs for the Basecamp Quest trek will be met by DHL.

    2. This includes the costs for return flights to Kathmandu, internal flights within Nepal and health/travel insurance.

    3. The costs involved in applying for a passport or visa will be for the participant. Entry visas are available on arrival in Kathmandu airport.

    4. If a participant decides to leave the trek early without good reason, all extra costs will be met by the participant. These include, but are not limited to, the costs for additional hotel nights in Kathmandu, the costs for changing flight dates and any porterage costs.

    5. The costs for personal clothing and the limited equipment suitable for a trek of this nature will be met by the selected participants. Anticipate needing a Gore-Tex waterproof layer, sturdy walking boots, trekking poles and a 35 liter rucksack.

    6.  A full Equipment List will be shared with the selected participants in December 2018 and participants’ equipment will be checked before departing Kathmandu. Any costs for missing equipment will be met by the participants.

Data Protection DHL International GmbH takes entrants’ privacy very seriously. DHL International GmbH will handle your personal data strictly in compliance with applicable data privacy law, e.g. the European General Data Protection Regulation. Entrants will be informed in detail about the usage of their personal data upon registry.
